About The Garden Club of Charleston

 

 

The Garden Club of Charleston, Inc. was founded in 1922 and is one of the oldest garden clubs in America. The club has a rich tradition of historic garden preservation and community-based service. As you stroll through beautiful, historic Charleston, South Carolina you will see the evidence of nearly 100 years of garden club member’s work throughout the city.  We invite you to explore our website, visit us for our annual House & Garden Tours and enjoy the holiday decorations that adorn the Joseph Manigault house each year.

Thanks to our founding members, The Garden Club of Charleston, Inc. operates under these guidelines: 

  • To direct any profits derived from any project solely for benevolent, charitable, scientific, beautification and educational purposes conducive to the well-being of the community and state; 
  • To promote the protection and conservation of our natural resources and wildlife; 
  • To encourage civic planting and beautification; 
  • To further horticultural education, conservation, and landscape design through gift camp scholarships; 
  • To encourage the love of all phases of garden club work. 

The Garden Club of Charleston, Inc. is a  501.c4 Non-Profit with a 501.c3 Charitable Fund.  We are proud to be affiliated with National Garden Clubs, Inc., the South Atlantic Region, The Garden Club of South Carolina, the East Low Country District, and the Council of Garden Clubs of Greater Charleston.
