Plant Sale

TGCC 2025 Plant Sale
Saturday, March 29, 2025
9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
Mount Pleasant Farmers Market

In conjunction with the Charleston Horticultural Society’s Plantasia. The 2025 Plant Sale is scheduled for Saturday, March 29, 2025, at the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market, 645 Coleman Blvd.

We have had a lot of fun planting together in the Community Room at the American College of the Building Arts. Recently. Patty Franken of Carolina Landscape led a great propagation session. She divided plants and gave others a haircut, letting us take the cuttings to start new ones. We still have one opportunity for seed planting/transplanting in February. We’ll supply instruction and guidance while you work, and all of the supplies needed.

We are grateful to Sara Engstrom and Patty, who has provided us with a place at Carolina Landscape to keep the plants once they have been transplanted.

Hands-on Sessions:
February 28th, Planting and Transplanting: During this session, planters will transplant those plants that are ready for larger pots or start seeds that germinate quickly.
March 7th, Salad Bowl Planting: During this session, you will plant salad bowls with different mixes of seeds that will be ready to harvest in 30-55 days.

If you are willing to work on the 2025 Plant Sale Committee, please email Margaret O’Brien, [email protected] and copy Lynn Mayfield [email protected] indicating which of the activities listed below you are willing to volunteer for:

1. Grow plants from seeds planted at a planting session.
2. Transplant seedlings that you or someone else grew during hands-on sessions.
3. Grow and transplant additional plants from seed at home; the goal is two (2) trays of eighteen (18) plants.
4. Fertilize the transplanted seedlings at Carolina Landscape Nursery the last few weeks of March.
5. Propagate plants from your garden or call us to dig up the ones you are ready to part with.

6. Be a plant buddy (water for a grower who is out of town).
7. Prep plants (remove dead leaves and other debris, top off with soil if needed) on March 27th at Carolina Landscape Nursery.
8. Be a plant transporter from Carolina Landscape Nursery on James Island to the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market early on March 29th.
9. Work during the sale on March 29th on one or both of the two shifts: setup and sale 8 – 12 or sale and cleanup 12– 4.

Please note that we’ll be setting up early (8 a.m.) and selling plants 9-11 a.m. on March 29, but you have to be a Hort Society member to shop before 11 a.m.
