Scholarships Awarded for Academic Year 2026-27
The Garden Club of Charleston, Inc. Endowed Scholarship is part of the TGCC Charitable Fund, operated by The Garden Club of Charleston, Inc. and administered by the Club’s Scholarship Committee. Each year Endowment earnings are distributed, this year three $2,500 scholarships were awarded. These Scholarships are funded directly from the earnings of the TGCC Scholarship Endowment

2026-27 Endowed Scholarship Recipients
Ella Fales, a senior at Clemson, is pursuing majors in Horticulture and Biological Sciences with a minor in Landscape Architecture. Her academic interests include sustainable and ethical landscape design, and she has gained hands-on experience through her work in Clemson’s Sustainable Demonstration Garden. She credits that experience with helping her secure a summer internship at Monet’s garden in Giverny, France. A talented artist, Ella will combine her artistic and design aesthetics in landscape architecture.
Kiersten Miller A senior at Clemson from Mount Pleasant, Kiersten maintains a 3.95 GPA while majoring in Environmental Engineering and Policy and is planning to minor in Environmental Policy. Passionate about addressing freshwater scarcity, she serves as vice president of the American Water Works Association’s Clemson chapter. She is currently researching the use of saline water for plant growth and studying hydroponics. She also interned with Weston & Sampson, where she worked on wastewater projects for Charleston.
Jakob Highducheck, from Inman, South Carolina, is a senior at the College of Charleston, where he is pursuing a double major in Environmental. Sustainability Studies and Biology. He plans to attend graduate school. Jakob is a member of Phi Beta Kappa, a Fulbright Scholar, and a fellow on the Honors College Advisory Board. He also volunteers regularly with the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Marsh Project. Currently, he is co-directing a documentary exploring Charleston’s marshland history and its significance to the city’s growth and development.
The Garden Club of Charleston, Inc. General Fund Scholarships
In addition to Endowed Scholarships awarded, The Garden Club of Charleston, Inc., supports three external scholarship programs from the General Fund.
- Trident Technical College Foundation Scholarship receives a $1500 grant from TGCC. The selection of the scholarship winner is governed by the Trident Technical College Foundation.
- Garden Club of South Carolina East Lowcountry District Scholarship is supported by a donation of $1000 from The Garden Club of Charleston, Inc. along with other garden clubs throughout the East Lowcountry District.
- Camp Wildwood Scholarship receives $250 to underwrite one scholarship for a deserving high school student. Camp Wildwood chooses the recipient.
