The Gardeners' Guide for the Lowcountry

Grow, bloom, and thrive with The Gardeners’ Guide for the Lowcountry. First published in 1949 by The Garden Club of Charleston Inc., this guide is the collective voice of many gardeners, compiled over decades. It's designed to feel like you're getting advice from a fellow gardening friend.
This latest edition combines science-based information from Clemson Extension with time-tested suggestions from local gardeners. We have also added a bonus section: The Care and Conditioning of Cut Flowers, which was a separate publication. This useful guide provides information on flower conditioning, arranging, and resources to help you get the most from your blooms from garden to vase.
We've updated the design of the book to include quick-reference tabs, color imagery, and a basic glossary of gardening terms. The cover, which features beautiful Lowcountry flora and fauna, was designed by Michael Hoeweler, whose artwork has also been featured in national publications like Bon Appétit, Smithsonian Magazine, and The New York Times.
A special thank you to all who have contributed to this guide, both past and present, and to Art Director Marshall Mckinney for his talent in bringing this edition to life.
